Description: 24-hour Hotline, 365 Days a year by trained personnel who are prepared to respond to any type of crisis call. Available in Kankakee and Watseka.

Service/program name: Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter
Description: We provide emergency shelter to victims of domestic violence (women, men, or a person with a pet) and their children in Kankakee and Iroquois counties. Shelter includes a bedroom, food, counseling services, referrals, and court advocacy. Specific length of stay is directly related to goal-related issues.

Shelter for a person with a pet and men is limited. A person with a pet needs to show proof of updated shot records for the dog or cat.

Description: Trained court advocates are not attorneys, but are available to assist victims of domestic violence in obtaining orders of protection against their offenders. Advocates offer support and assistance on return court dates. The also assist and offer services to victims in Domestic Violence Court and domestic-related trials. Description: Domestic violence education classes. A four-week educational program for victims of domestic violence. The primary goal is to teach victims how to be safe whether they remain in their relationship or not. Services available at Kankakee location and in Watseka.

Description: A client who has resided in our emergency shelter for a minimum of one month and is determined appropriate by the staff is eligible for transitional housing if there is an opening. Transitional Housing is longer term and offers the client an opportunity to be more independent. Length of stay is determined in six-months intervals.

Description: The Harbor House Resale Shoppe is located at 100 East Walnut Street, Watseka. It offers upscale, name brand items at affordable prices and clothing for the entire family, household items, furniture and tons of odds and ends.

The Shoppe accepts donations on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday during store hours at the Watseka facility and Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Kankakee County facility. A list of items we cannot accept can be found at www.harborhousedv.org.

Store hours: M, T, W, F - 10:00 to 5:00 and Saturdays 10:00 to 2:00.
Closed Thursday and Sunday.
