Selection of people to serve as jurors in Kankakee County Courts. The Jury Commission is a body of three people selected by the Circuit Judges. To qualify for jury service, persons must be 18 years of age and either be registered voters or possess a valid driver's license. The Jury Commission notifies qualified jurors 3 weeks in advance of the date they are ordered to begin their service. The Commission summons jurors for one of two forms of jury duty, Petit or Grand Jury. Qualified jurors are selected randomly at all times. The Jury Commission obtains the names of registered voters and licensed drivers. 1500 qualifying questionnaires are sent to potential jurors each month. The Jury Commission reviews each questionnaire and either qualifies or excuses each person. The Commission then randomly selects jurors form the qualified people
