School Crisis Assistance Team
The School Crisis Assistance Team is available to provide crisis intervention services to a school community following a violent or traumatic incident. The SCAT Team of Kankakee and Iroquois counties is comprised of trained volunteers from diverse professional affiliations and backgrounds. They will respond to school incidents after receiving a verbal invitation from a designated school official. They may be contacted after a school or community crisis by calling 815.432.4918, seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
The team is prepared to help schools and communities deal with the mental and emotional trauma associated with such incidents as the death of a student, staff member, or community member that affects a significant portion of the school community, a major natural disaster, situations involving threats to physical safety, or perceived threats to emotional well-being.
