In Remembrance of Lura Lynn Ryan (1934-2011)
Lura Lynn Ryan, former Illinois' First Lady, at the time of her death on June 27 was the Honorary Chairperson of the Pledge for Life Partnership Board of Directors. She is credited with picking up the idea of using a mobile classroom to visit schools to bring prevention messages to children to educate them about alcohol and other drugs. Today's Life Education Centers bring healthy lifestyle messages to over 13,000 elementary students yearly in the schools served by the Iroquois-Kankakee Regional Office of Education. Her efforts to provide the Life Education curriculum began in 1986 and continue today.
KAN-I HELP is another initiative of the Pledge for Life Partnership.
