Legal Self Help Centers have recently opened in Room 208 at the Kankakee County Courthouse at 450 East Court Street in Kankakee and in the Iroquois County Courthouse at 550 South 10th Street in Watseka, IL. There is on-line support available at http://iroquoisillinoislegalaid.org and http://kankakeeillinoislegalaid.org. The centers' goal is to is to provide equal access to justice for all by assisting and educating the public on how to use available legal resources. There is also a center located at the Kankakee Public Library at 201 East Merchant in Kankakee.
There is a statewide legal information and self-help website at www.IllinoisLegalAid.org that supports the court self-help centers. People who are looking for legal information, referrals to legal services, and instructions for representing themselves can access the site to get information.
