Pledge for Life Partnership Recognizes 2014-2015 Harold Award Winner

The Pledge for Life Partnership recognized Guadalupe (Lupita) Arrendondo Sorich as the 2014-2015 Harold Award Winner at the Outstanding Volunteers of Kankakee County Recognition Luncheon on April 10, 2015. Lupita was chosen for sharing her talents with the PfL Partnership, her church, and the Hispanic community. She currently serves as the Supervisor of English as a Second Language (ESL) programs at Kankakee Community College. She has been involved in the Kankakee County Hispanic Partnership, serving in various leadership roles since 1997. The recipient is currently involved in Hispanic Ministry, Hispanic Youth Ministry, and Family Ministry for the Catholic Diocese of Joliet and active with three local parishes. She was instrumental in starting legal and medical translation and interpretation classes at Kankakee Community College where she serves on the Hispanic Latino Advisory Council. Her efforts can be seen at the Hispanic Heritage arts and craft event at the Farmer's Market, and at the Annual Make A Difference Awards. She is a role model for her eleven children and other youth in the community. Having previously served as vice-president of the Pledge for Life Partnership Board of Directors, and a board member since 2006, the Harold Award winner gives her time, talent and treasure to improve the community.
