National Substance Abuse Prevention Month
Monday, October 05, 2015
October is National Substance Abuse Prevention Month. The Office of National Drug Control Policy has annonunced this year's theme: "Unleashing the Collective Power of Communities." The Office of National Drug Control Policy seeks to foster healthy individuals and safe communities by leading the nation's effort to reduce drug use and its consequences. Preventing drug use before it begins is a cost effective way to reduce drug use and its consequences. The Life Education Centers and The Pledge for Life Partnership work collaboratively with the Iroquois-Kankakee Regional Office of Education to provide school-based prevention programs in Kankakee and Iroquois counties in Illinois to help students and their families to make healthy decisions.
