Friday, May 07, 2004
Roxanne Hooper, KAN-I HELP community liaison for the Pledge for Life Partnership, and Carole Franke, director of youth opportunities for the I-KAN Regional Office of Education’s Teen REACH after school programs, have been appointed to the public awareness committee of the Illinois Children’s Mental Health Partnership which was established by the state of Illinois in 2001.
The public awareness committee is one of four existing committees designed to develop a children’s mental health plan for Illinois. Other committees include an early childhood committee, school-age committee and school policies and standards committee.
The public awareness committee is looking at designing a campaign to de-stigmatize mental illness and to promote a greater understanding of children’s social and emotional and developmental needs.
The committee meets monthly. For more information, call the Partnership at 936-4606.
