Pledge for Life Partnership announces Best Practice winners

The following teachers are winners in the Best Practice Contest for the 2003-04 academic year. The contest is sponsored annually by the Pledge for Life Partnership to recognize Kindergarten through sixth grade teachers who develop projects and activities to reinforce the lessons taught in the Life Education Center curriculum.

Monetary awards of $100, $50 and $25 are given for first, second and third place respectively. The awards were presented at the annual Kankakee-Iroquois County Life Education Center Advisory Board meeting held October 27 at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Kindergarten:
First place, Chris Sutherland, St. Anne Elementary School; second place, Fredda Rodewald, Robert Frost School in Bourbonnais; and third place, Nancy Mansberger, St. Anne Elementary School and Debra Roselius, Ashkum Elementary School.

First Grade
First place, Kristine Pelletier, St. Anne Elementary School; second place, Becky DeVries, St. Anne Elementary School; and third place, Linda Wilson, Shabbona School in Bourbonnais.

Second Grade
First place, Linda Ailey, Donovan Elementary School; second place, Mary Talbert, Gilman Elementary School; and third place, Kim Zajc, Noel LeVasseur School in Bourbonnais, Amy Vanswol, Manteno Elementary School and Rachel Rieder, Grant Park Elementary School.

Third Grade
First place, Kathie Both, Donovan Elementary School; second place, Ruth Hull, Chebanse Elementary School; and third place, Sherion Gust, Thomas Edison Primary School in Kankakee, Nancy DuCharme, Shabbona Elementary School in Bourbonnais and Carol Eyster, St. Paulís Lutheran School in Kankakee.

Fourth Grade
First place, Mary Ann Bicknell, Alan Shepard School in Bourbonnais; second place, Tammy Williams, King Middle School in Kankakee; third place, Maureen Antognoli, King Middle School in Kankakee and Becky Creek, Alan Shepard School in Bourbonnais.

Fifth Grade
First place, Wendi Dabney, Alan Shepard School in Bourbonnais; second place, Beth Sadler and Linda Lilienthal, Bradley West School; third place, Barbara Kitz, Lincoln Cultural Center in Kankakee and Trixie Pankey of Manteno Elementary School.

Sixth Grade
First place, Sharon Brough, John L. Nash Middle School in Clifton; and second place, Eugene Wachholz, St. Paulís Lutheran School in Kankakee.
