Registration opens for Fun-a-thon activities

Registration has opened for several activities being held Sunday, February 20 in conjunction with the Pledge for Life Partnershipís 9th Annual Family Fun-a-thon.
Proceeds from the Fun-a-thon go to benefit the Life Education Centers healthy lifestyle and substance abuse prevention programs and will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in McHie Arena at Olivet Nazarene University.
Pre-event mini clinics:
Cheerleading and Poms Mini-Clinics for Kindergarten-8th graders with Robin Coash, cheerleading coach with Bishop McNamara High School and Christine Griggs, poms coach for Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School: Both clinics will run 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in McHie Arena. Cost is $15 and includes admittance to the Family Fun-a-thon which follows. Registration is limited and pre-registration is required.
Karate Clinic for Kindergarten-4th grade boys and girls with instructors from Tri-Star Martial Arts Academy: This clinic also will run from 11:45 a.m to 12:45 p.m.. Cost is $15 and includes admission to the Family Fun-a-thon which follows. Registration is limited and pre-registration is required.
3-On-3 Basketball Tournament for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys and girls: Teams will be divided into two brackets in both the boys and girls divisions. Cost to enter for a team of four is $40, which includes admittance into the Family Fun-a-thon. Teams will begin playing at 1 p.m. Registration is limited and pre-registration is required.
Talent Showcase: This event is open to individuals, families and groups of all ages. Showcase begins at 2 p.m. Dance entries are not allowed. The entry fee is $5 per person, which includes admittance into the Fun-a-thon.
Registrations for all events will be taken through February 1. To obtain a registration form, call the Partnership office at 936-4606.
Additional Fun-a-thon activities that do not require pre-registration include Family Quest competitions with Kankakee School District 111 Gifted Program, mad science demonstrations with ONU Professor Larry Ferren, arts and crafts with Art Start Studio, Know and Go instruction with Tri-Star Martial Arts Academy, fun with the Exploration Station and more. Refreshments are provided by Dominos Pizza and Pepsi Cola.
General admission to the Fun-a-thon is $5; children under 3 years old are free. All proceeds from the pre-clinics, tournament, showcase and general Fun-a-thon admittance fee will benefit the Life Education Centerís healthy lifestyle and substance abuse prevention programs.
